My name is Kate-Alice Martin and I am a double major in German and
psychology. I am particularly interested in how people use technology and
software psychology, potentially looking into technology in criminology
I am starting to take formal programming courses, but am interested in
developing skills in open source. I have dabbled in HTML and open source on
some forums, but would like an actual project. Previously I have been
somewhat intimidated by the typical computer science program. Though I
usually follow what they are talking about because I am very into
technology, I never felt like I fit in. The discussion here has encouraged
me to pursue technology as more than my hobby.
I rebuild my own machine regularly, and in high school experimented with
running my own dual-boot with Unix on Windows PC. (not enough memory) I am
currently upgrading myself to Windows 7, and then adding Sun Virtual Box so
I can run Ubuntu and Drupal images, and the Systers development
environment.
As a beginner, I am interested in the wishlist and the admin interface. I
am good at screen design and focusing on the user experience, and I like the
challenge of making the computer do what I want. I also like how supportive
the Systers community is.
I am working on my application. Any assistance will be appreciated.
