Hello all,

I am looking forward to working with Systers in GSOC this summer.
Improving archiving and searching in mailman is one project that
really interests me. My research on this has begun and am reading the
mailman code and going through archives of discussions about this.

After successfully installing and testing Mailman on Ubuntu 9.10 and
Python 2.6 (with a small patch to the code to resolve the library not
found problem), I started solving bugs from the bugs-page [1]. Two
bugs that I have succeeded in solving are [2] and [3]. I shall also
try and make a mockup of my idea for this project. Meanwhile back to
bug hunting, reading code and drafting the proposal.

A detailed list of the steps of approach that I had taken during
solving the bugs is in my blog [4].

I still had a few problems when trying to subscribe a new user to the
list via the web interface. Sending email to listname-join at somedomain
works just fine. The stack trace of the error can be found at [5].

Also I have a small patch for Ubuntu 9+ specific problem where the
required packages are not found. Should I submit this?

Regards,
Priya (beachbrake)
