[Systers-dev] GSoC and irc channels

Hello!
As many of you know - we have two irc channels on irc.freenode.net -
#systers-dev and #systers-soc. We are starting to get some questions from
prospective GSoC students -- they are starting early this year -- and we
could use some help monitoring the channels.
systers-soc -- is really just for GSoC questions -- but I expect there will
be a bit of bleed over into #systers-dev.
At this point, we are just pushing them to join systers-dev (the mailing
list) and pointing them to the wiki. It would be nice though if we had a
few more people idling in the channels, I'll make sure both are logged.
Anyone willing to help out? Right now Kathy Richardson and I both have ops
if you are willing to spend some time in the channels - let me know and I'll
grant you ops as well (after you join).
Instructions on how to use irc are here:
http://systers.org/systers-dev/doku.php/how_to_use_irc
You should also feel free to use systers-dev to chat about development
questions - would prefer python or mailman related - but, as long as the
topics are mostly technical I think it's ok to discuss other programming
issues occasionally as well - particularly if they are about open source
projects - just don't crazy with the non-systers-dev related topics. We can
make another channel if the non systers-dev technical conversations are
getting a lot of traction.
Thanks,
Jen
