[Systers-dev] error on installing mailman

This is probably too simple a question: but what languages do you have
installed on your box? It's possible that Mailman would throw an error
if US English wasn't available at all, since that's the default. I had
a problem with another application years ago that turned out to be
because my default was set to Canadian English and I'd removed the US
files entirely.

"newlist command not found" probably isn't a concern, though: you
probably just don't have $mailman/bin in your path. You can add it by
putting a line like

export PATH=$PATH:/usr/lib/mailman/bin

Into your .bashrc file. Or use whatever the actual path is for your
setup. I think that's the right one for debian and probably ubuntu, but
I *always* forget this stuff.

But try just searching for newlist to figure out where it's gotten put.
That might be easier than relying on my faulty memory. :)

  Terri
