Yes, the interface that will likely be packaged with Mailman 3 is one 
that builds on Django.  A bunch of work was done on it at the coding 
sprint at pycon, and the plan is to continue to build upon this work.

It's not necessarily true that this will be the One True Interface for 
Mailman.  The idea is that the REST interface will make it easier for 
organizations to affix their own interface to Mailman, and we fully 
expect that some will do so.

But back on the other side: you can already swap out the archiver, and 
yet the majority of sites use pipermail.  So the default interface is 
likely still quite important!



As an aside: we don't need to make guesses about Mailman like, "seems 
pretty official" here.  We've got plenty of ties to the Mailman 
development community, including mentors like me.  (See my name on the 
front page of list.org?  It's part of my job to know what's going on! 
And we specifically invited other key folk to be involved with Systers 
GSoC too.)   So all of you, please don't treat Mailman like some sort of 
mysterious gray box that you have to somehow work with: think of this 
summer as an opportunity to collaborate with the Mailman team.
