Thanks to Anna G, who sent me a screen-shot of what potential students see
when they are submitting the application I think I fixed some problems with
the application template that should make the formatting a bit better when
submitting the application. However, if everyone submitting applications
would do the following it would be very helpful:
1) Review your application after you submit and go back and fix any obvious
formatting issues -- like massive word-wrap problems and lots of extra
white-space.
2) Go ahead and delete the instructions at the top. I actually got rid of
lots of the preamble -- I didn't realize this part was actually showing up
as a part of the form.
3) Take some time over the next few days to go in and clean things up a bit
for readability. Unfortunately, I can't edit your proposal -- but if you
would take some time to make them more readable that would really help the
review process.
4) Pick a unique name that includes the name of the project for which you
applying
This is your application and it is essentially a proposal - go ahead and
make it look nice and add any additional information you think we might find
useful - you have until 4/9 17:00 UTC to make any changes.
My apologies to both the students and the mentors -- after closer
examination I believe the application template was causing a lot of the
formatting issues -- which is my fault for not understanding the student
view better. Hopefully, things are fixed for those of you who are still
working on applications!
