[Systers-dev] Systers - Spread the word: Press Guidelines

Kalpana,
I really appreciate your enthusiasm here, but I think it's important to
distinguish between systers and systers-dev. These are things that systers
members should be dealing with, not a separate group. The fact that systers
hasn't felt the need to publicize is an interesting one, and perhaps we
should have a discussion of this on systers, but having a different group
publicize for us is sort of strange.

The logos are Anita Borg logos because we are part of the Anita Borg
Institute, and any changes to that have to be worked through them. Again,
the logo ought to reflect what the systers community as a whole
thinks/feels, not that of a separate group.

Your issue of getting information indexed by google is one we should take up
at the ABI end. Up till this point, we have not wanted any systers content
indexed, as there are privacy concerns (no one wants their rant about a
difficult co-worker to show up in a search engine). It may be that when we
added the wiki no one thought to adjust the robots.txt file for the fact
that we now have public information. I'll see what I can do. But please,
don't submit things to Google -- with the issues of some stuff being
confidential and some not, it's very important that someone who knows all
about the site do any interacting with search engines.

Please, keep this enthusiasm -- we need it on Systers. But take it over to
systers and see if you can get involved in related efforts there.
